A bookshop and cafe by the sea – what better place to set a rom com?

The Dragonfly is next to the harbour in the fictional small town of Dashford-on-Sea, on the North Devon coast. If Dashford sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the location for most of the books in the Dashford Comedies series.

We first met the Dragonfly in Be Less Dragonfly, when owner Freya moved from London to realise her dreams of running her own bookshop. The new series focuses on the lives and loves of the shop’s staff, starting with Pixie, the shop’s resident Booktokker (but your favourite Dashford characters might pop in from time to time).

Book 1 will be available in 2026, but in the meantime, you can download the prequel short story for free.
